Over recent months I have been doing some earplug testing and this post is part 3 in this little project. I have been testing three very different brands, each with their own strengths. Each product could be used for a variety of different purposes, each are reusable but each one does excel more than the others in one area. I am not doing a direct comparison of these earplugs because all three are brilliant so I will just review them, giving my honest opinion as usual.
As someone that does/has suffered with anxiety and tinnitus, earplugs have always been something I have experimented with. I have also played guitar in a loud rock band and play a loud brass instrument. I also play in the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band, which can be extremely loud and I wish I had used earplugs when I was much younger.
The 3 brands of earplugs I have tested are:
1) Happy Ears
2) SoftBliss
3) Auritech (Amazon affiliate link)
Review of the Auritech earplugs
The Auritech earplugs that I tested were designed for music, and that is why, out of those I tried, these were brilliant for that exact purpose. Listening to loud music, performing loud music, attending a live concert and anything music related are what I would use these earplugs for.

Auritech make earplugs that are specifically designed for a variety of typical purposes but they also make custom earplugs. For example, they make earplugs specifically for shooting, biking and other things. I am not sure how each type differs but if you browse their website, all the information is provided.

I like heavy metal and rock music and often go to watch bands. As a teenager, I would go to gigs with no ear protection and my ears would be ringing for days. If only I knew that this could be damaging my hearing.
I went to see a band called Incubus live at the O2 in London. Here is a track which I recorded at the concert!
The Auritech earplugs were strange at first because it took a while to feel that they were actually in my ear. They don't noticeably take any sound away but during listening to the concert, if I removed them, you could suddenly hear a lot more fuzz and white noise. The detail that you do hear while wearing them is greatly enhanced. As they describe on their site:
"Precision-tuned, patented ceramic sound filters ensure maximum protection against dangerous levels of noise from loud music."

They come with a compact carrying tube with a screw in top and it could be attached to a keyring.
I have also tested these earplugs while playing my euphonium. With most earplugs, it is a strange feeling while I play because, while they block the noise, they create a louder internal sound and I find that I am not sure how loud or quiet I am playing. This could cause big problems if I always use them.
With the Auritech earplugs I don't get that feeling, it just feels normal but I know that they are protecting my ears. I need to do a bit more testing with them and might even try using them in a real live concert performance.
The Auritech earplugs clearly are designed with specific things in mind. The ones specifically for music wouldn't be good for sleep but I'd be interested to test the ones they make which are specifically for sleep.
This has been the final part of my earplug testing project and I have enjoyed it. I hope that you find it useful in helping select which type of earplug is best for you. There are clearly a lot of brilliant products out there and we should all look after our ears!

I am going to add this paragraph to each review just to remind people that earplugs could be a choking hazard to babies, small children or pets so never leave the earplugs out of the case.
