Over recent months I have been doing some earplug testing and this post is part 2 in this little project. I have been testing three very different brands, each with their own strengths. Each product could be used for a variety of different purposes, each are reusable but each one does excel more than the others in one area. I am not doing a direct comparison of these earplugs because all three are brilliant so I will just review them, giving my honest opinion as usual.

As someone that does/has suffered with anxiety and tinnitus, earplugs have always been something I have experimented with. I have also played guitar in a loud rock band and play a loud brass instrument. I also play in the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band, which can be extremely loud and I wish I had used earplugs when I was much younger.

The 3 brands of earplugs I have tested are:

Review of the SoftBliss Earplugs.

SoftBliss earplugs are best for sleep and concentration. They are probably the most comfortable earplugs that I have tried and they reduced the noise by the greatest amount. While this isn't great from a musical point of view (unless you just want the noises to be lower) it is brilliant when you just need peace.

They are made from premium soft silicone and come with a money back guarantee and a lifetime warranty. They have five different sizes of ear tips and five different sizes of hooks. The hook sits outside the ear hole and allows a snug fit, sort of hooking into your ear helix. The tip is similar to those found on inner ear earphones. You can use different sized hooks and tips and this provides you with a lot of options. All of this is displayed in a sturdy plastic box.

They also come with a small pouch but the logo did start to wear off mine as can be seen in the next picture which was taken after a live gig where I tested the earplugs.

The flexibility in sizes makes them ideal for adults or children. My 11 year old daughter found them to be very comfortable and she would just wear them all day. She actually used them in school while doing some tests in preparation for her SATS exams.

I am going to add this paragraph to each review just to remind people that earplugs could be a choking hazard to babies, small children or pets so never leave the earplugs out of the case.

Changing the sizes was a bit fiddly and it took some time to play around to find the right fit but it was worth it. When you get the product the middle size is already set up and this is probably the average for most people.

They took a bit of adjustment to get them to sit perfectly but after that I couldn't tell they were in my ears. This makes them perfect for sleep because they will not fall out and will allow for safe sleeping in any position. They are perfect for coach or train journeys or for times when you just need to be alone with your thoughts.

I find from a musical point of view, I like to run music through in my head, perhaps to practice memorising music and these are perfect for this.

I have often had to stay in a hotel with other band members and there is nothing fun about having someone who snores in the same room. Having a pair of earplugs handy is essential and the SoftBliss earplugs will be my choice to keep in my overnight bag for this very purpose.

I have them in now at the time of writing this post and I truly feel that I can concentrate better and for longer periods of time, especially when working on a computer.

They come in a nice selection of colours and come highly recommended not just from me but from numerous articles found in some mainstream magazines such as Men's Health.
