I was very lucky to be given the opportunity to perform with The Orchestra of the Music Makers in Singapore in their 5th birthday concert on 28 Aug 2013.  The concert featured music from Wagner's Tristan and Isolde, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.4 performed by Melvin Tan and lastly excerpts from Wagner's epic 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' in which I played the bass trumpet part.  It was an amazing experience and very challenging due to the relatively short time I had to get into practice on the bass trumpet! The bass trumpet is used as a solo instrument by Wagner and plays an important role in the music and I thoroughly enjoyed the concert.  Here is a review which appeared in The Straits Times.

The mentioned solo horn 'glorious fluff' was such a small thing and a shame to even be mentioned by the reviewer, as it did nothing to distract from the magnificent music making in my opinion.

It is not often that I have to sit with the trumpet section but it was a pleasure and the 'young' trumpeters sounded brilliant.  I hope that I can perform with this orchestra again one day, maybe even on tenor tuba (euphonium)!  Here are some pics......
